Noel O'Brien Tournament 2017
20/09/2017
The 16th Annual Noel O’Brien U10 Hurling Tournament was held in Buffers Alley on Saturday last with nearly 200 hurlers participating. Glynn/Barntown, Ballynastragh Gaels, Craanford, Naomh Éanna, Faythe Harriers, Liam Mellows, Monageer/Boolavogue and the host club all fielded two teams in a blitz played under the Go Games format.
All teams got four games which resulted in a festival of hurling with some stellar performances from all involved. The games were played in a great sporting atmosphere and all the skills of the game were on display. All players received a medal from Darren O’Brien (son of the late Noel) for their sporting endeavours on the day.
The organising committee would like to Hammell’s Centra, Kilmuckridge who kindly sponsored goody bags for all the participants. They would also like to thank the army of club volunteers led by Paul Doyle who ensured the smooth running of the event and Eamonn Fortune who had the pitches in pristine condition. A final word of thanks for the referees, mentors, parents and players from all the clubs involved for ensuring it was such a memorable occasion.
Onwards and upwards to 2018.
